Perder el miedo a la ansiedad

El mes de septiembre es quizás uno de los meses del año en el que están presentes más circunstancias que nos pueden provocar estados de ansiedad: vuelta de vacaciones, inicio de nuevo curso escolar, retomar el trabajo o continuar con su búsqueda, tomas de decisiones, cuesta empinada para la economía familiar, planteamiento de nuevos objetivos o retos, o lo que es peor, replanteamiento de los anteriores todavía no conseguidos, etc.

La ansiedad tiene muchos grados posibles en su manera de manifestarse (síntomas físicos y cognitivos), y siempre se trata de un estado de alerta que nuestro organismo pone en marcha ante la sensación de peligro.

La mayoría de las veces el peligro no es real, sino que somos nosotros los que dotamos a situaciones más o menos cotidianas de ese carácter, porque no nos sentimos lo suficientemente capaces de afrontarlas. Es entonces cuando aparece la ansiedad, en forma de mareos, dificultad para respirar, dolores de cabeza, dolores de estómago, opresión en el pecho, sudoración de manos, etc.

Cuando aparece nos hace sentir muy mal y nos asusta, porque no sabemos qué es (la mayoría de las veces pensamos que algo malo ocurre a nivel fisiológico) ni cómo disminuírla.

 Un mínimo de ansiedad es necesaria para poder funcionar de manera eficaz y para poder poner en marcha la mínima activación que todos necesitamos para gestionar nuestro día a día, y hay que aprender a convivir con ella.

Y cuando ese nivel aumenta, hemos de saber que, aunque parezca difícil o imposible, si sabemos identificarla y cómo funciona, y aprendemos estrategias y técnicas para manejarla, acabaremos teniendo el control sobre ella y le ganaremos la batalla, recuperaremos el control.

El tratamiento de esta patología es uno de los más gratificantes en ese sentido, porque la persona que la sufre una vez iniciado éste, en un corto plazo empieza a sentirse mejor, y su día a día mejora notablemente.
